KP Culture & Tourism Authority Joins Hands with China Window to Organize Dragon Boat Festival

Peshawar, June 05, 2026( Saad Bin Awais): The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority (KPCTA) will jointly organize the Dragon Boat Festival being arranged by China Window to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Pakistan-China friendship. The decision was made during a meeting held in Peshawar, chaired by Director Culture and Tourism Ms. Halima Iqbal. China Window was represented by its Administrator, Amjad Aziz Malik.
During the meeting, participants were informed that the Dragon Boat Festival is one of the most popular traditional events in the People’s Republic of China. For the first time, it will be organized near Peshawar at Sardaryab in District Charsadda on the Kabul River. Participants will compete in boat races powered by paddles, showcasing teamwork, skill, and sportsmanship.
The primary objective of organizing the festival is to enable the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to share in the celebrations and happiness of their Chinese brothers and sisters, further strengthening the bonds of friendship between the two nations.
According to China Window Administrator Amjad Aziz Malik, a series of meetings has already been held with the relevant institutions to ensure the safety and security of all participants. He stated that arrangements for the festival are being finalized and every effort is being made to ensure a successful and memorable event.
Director Culture and Tourism Ms. Halima Iqbal said that the provincial Department of Culture and Tourism is fully committed to promoting tourism and highlighting the rich cultural heritage of both Pakistan and China. She added that, under the guidance of the Chief Minister’s Adviser on Tourism and Culture Adil Iqbal, Secretary Saadat Hassan, and Director General KPCTA Shahid Khan, the Authority will work closely with China Window to make the event a resounding success.
She further noted that as this is the first-ever Dragon Boat Festival being held in Pakistan as part of the celebrations marking 75 years of Pakistan-China friendship, it is essential to ensure its success so that a positive message of friendship, cultural harmony, and international cooperation can be conveyed from Peshawar and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to the world.
