Peshawar, January 08, 2025:
China Window and the Literary Society of Iqra National University (INU) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at jointly promoting Pak–China friendship across Peshawar and the wider Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Under the agreement, both institutions will collaborate in organizing a range of academic, literary, and cultural activities designed to strengthen people-to-people ties and enhance mutual understanding between Pakistan and China.
The MoU signing ceremony was held at China Window, where the Vice Chancellor of Iqra National University, Dr. Malik Taimur Ali, and the Administrator of China Window, Amjad Aziz Malik, formally signed the agreement. The ceremony was attended by the University Registrar, Dr. Mohsin Tahir, along with faculty members and office-bearers of the Literary Society of Iqra National University.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Dr. Malik Taimur Ali described China as a sincere, time-tested, and reliable friend of Pakistan, emphasizing that this enduring relationship calls for sustained and large-scale initiatives at academic and cultural levels. He said that such collaborations are essential to convey a strong message of friendship from Peshawar to the people of China and to further deepen bilateral relations.
Dr. Malik Taimur Ali highlighted that under the dynamic leadership of the university’s Chancellor, Ubaid-ur-Rehman, Iqra National University has been playing a significant role in advancing higher education and international academic cooperation. He added that the university is actively facilitating opportunities for its students to pursue higher education in China through scholarship programs, which are contributing to academic excellence and cross-cultural exchange. Expressing optimism, he said that the MoU with China Window would open new avenues for joint initiatives and institutional cooperation in the future.
On this occasion, Yasir Daud Khan, Director of the Literary Society of Iqra National University, briefed participants on the society’s ongoing academic, literary, and cultural activities. He said that these initiatives are now being expanded with a special focus on Pak–China friendship to raise awareness among students about the depth of bilateral relations and China’s contributions to Pakistan’s socio-economic development, particularly in the context of regional connectivity and development projects.
Yasir Daud Khan further announced that, in connection with the 75th anniversary of Pak–China friendship, a series of special events, including seminars, literary sessions, cultural exchanges, and interactive programs, will be jointly organized by Iqra National University and China Window during the year. He expressed confidence that these activities would play an important role in fostering mutual respect, cultural understanding, and long-term cooperation between the two nations.
