Peshawar (China Window News) The China Window, a Peshawar based cultural centre, acts as a source of disseminating information and knowledge about People’s Republic of China. Lately it has also stepped in to contributing its role towards promoting welfare and sports activities. During the month of November, a known ex-test cricketer, Mr. Riaz Afridi arranged Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Super League Cricket Tournament. He is the elder brother of a very prominent member of Pakistan National Cricket Team, Mr. Shaheen Shah Afridi. In response to an invitation, China Window also joined the tournament.
The inaugural ceremony of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Super League Trophy and its Uniform for players was held at Mardan. It was a colourful and memorable event. A sitting member of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, Mr. Shafique Sher Afridi was the chief guest on the occasion. Amongst the guests also included, Mr. Yang – a representative of United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees – who, while speaking on the occasion said, “our two teams are competing the tournament”. All this, he said, is meant to project our services towards well being of refugees as well as ensuring better opportunities of competitions to the players.
