PESHAWAR: Advisor to China Cultural Center in Pakistan ,Ms.Bai Jie, and Director of Pak-China Cultural & Economic Progress Welfare Organization Chen Tiantang visited China Window in Peshawar, where they highly appreciated the cultural center’s sustained efforts to promote Chinese culture, strengthen Pakistan-China friendship and expand people-to-people contacts between the two countries During the visit, the Chinese guests toured different galleries of China Window and were briefed about its cultural, educational and public diplomacy initiatives. They showed keen interest in the centre’s activities, particularly its programs aimed at familiarizing Pakistani youth with Chinese culture, language, history and the longstanding friendship between Pakistan and China.
Bai Jie and Chen Tiantang expressed their pleasure at witnessing the wide-ranging initiatives undertaken by China Window and praised the management for creating a vibrant platform for cultural understanding in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. They said such institutions could play an important role in bringing the peoples of Pakistan and China closer and transforming the strong state-to-state relationship into deeper connections at the public level. During discussions, the two sides also exchanged views on launching reciprocal cultural exchange visits between citizens of Pakistan and China. The Chinese guests warmly welcomed the proposal, describing direct interaction between ordinary citizens, professionals, students, cultural representatives and members of civil society as an effective way of promoting mutual understanding and lasting friendship. China Window offered to take the first practical step by hosting a delegation from China in Pakistan. Under the proposed initiative, a small group of Chinese citizens would be invited to visit Pakistan, where China Window would arrange their accommodation, meals, local transportation and a comprehensive program of cultural, educational and recreational activities.
The proposed visit would also provide the Chinese delegation with opportunities to interact with Pakistani students, academics, professionals, journalists and representatives of different sectors, while visiting historical, cultural and tourist attractions. The initiative is intended to give the guests first-hand exposure to Pakistani society, hospitality and culture. It was agreed in principle that such exchanges should not remain one-sided and that reciprocal visits of Pakistani delegations to China should also be encouraged in the future. Both sides expressed confidence that regular exchanges could further strengthen mutual trust and create new avenues of cooperation in education, culture, youth engagement and public diplomacy. The representatives of China Window said that while Pakistan-China relations enjoy an exceptional strategic partnership, greater emphasis on people-to-people connectivity would give the friendship an even stronger social foundation.
Bai Jie and Chen Tiantang appreciated the proposal and expressed hope that collaborative cultural initiatives and reciprocal visits would contribute significantly to enhancing understanding between the peoples of the two countries and further strengthen the enduring bonds of Pakistan-China friendship.
