ISLAMABAD: Chinese Deputy Chief of Missions (DCM), Shi Yuangqiang, expressed China’s commitment to collaborating with Pakistan to implement crucial agreements reached by the leaders of both nations.
At a seminar on the Dynamics of Xinjiang from a Pakistani Perspective, hosted by the Overseas Chinese Association Rawalpindi, DCM Shi emphasized Pakistan’s enthusiasm for enhancing ongoing commercial cooperation, which would breathe new life into China-Pakistan collaboration as China enters a new phase of development.
Focusing on bilateral relations, DCM Shi underscored the significance of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and commended Pakistan’s new government’s “5Es” framework, aligning with China’s approach to high-quality development. He highlighted notable achievements of CPEC Phase One, such as renewable energy projects and the establishment of a buffalo embryo laboratory, which have significantly contributed to Pakistan’s economic and social progress.
Looking ahead to CPEC Phase Two, DCM Shi expressed readiness to work with Pakistan in implementing the crucial consensus reached by leaders of both countries. The aim is to infuse fresh momentum into China-Pakistan cooperation, aligning China’s new development with the “5Cs” and “5Es,” thus upgrading CPEC and fostering a closer China-Pakistan community with a shared future.
DCM Shi affirmed China’s readiness to collaborate with various stakeholders in Pakistan to advocate for universally beneficial and inclusive economic globalization. The goal is to expand the “cake” of economic globalization and ensure fair distribution, promoting trade and investment liberalization for mutual benefit, win-win outcomes, and shared prosperity.
Regarding Xinjiang, DCM Shi highlighted China’s progress in protecting the rights of all ethnic groups, demonstrating increasing openness and transparency in showcasing achievements while refuting misinformation spread by certain international forces. He emphasized the region’s prosperity and development, noting the freedom of religion enjoyed by Muslims in China, with over 24,000 mosques in the country. DCM Shi rejected malicious propaganda, emphasizing proactive policies in Xinjiang to ensure employment and job security, improving living standards, and debunking unfounded claims of forced labor.Other speakers at the seminar, including President of the Ex-Chinese Association M. Nasir Khan , Director of China Window Peshawar Naz Parvin and members of various organizations, emphasized the importance of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, the Pak-China relationship, religious freedom in Xinjiang, and China’s development phases. Awards were also presented to speakers and notable guests for their contributions to Pak-China relations.
