Peshawar Pakistan, July 04, 2022: Pakistan’s cricket super star Shaheen Shah Afridi becomes the Goodwill Ambassador of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police. A simple but dignified ceremony was held at Malik Saad Shaheed Police Lines Peshawar in which Honorary Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa rank badges were decorated on Shaheen Shah Afridi,s shoulders.Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Dr. Shehzad Khan Bangash and Provincial Police Chief Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Moazzam Jah Ansari presented honorary badges.
As soon as the Chief Secretary and IGP decorated the National hero Shaheen Shah Afridi with the badge of honor, he immediately presented the salute to his father and then to the IGP. Addressing the gathering, Chief Secretary Dr. Shehzad Khan Bangash said that Shaheen Shah Afridi is a shining star of our country and he has raised our head with pride and brightened our name at national and international level. The Chief Secretary lauded the efforts of IGP Moazzam Jah Ansari in organizing the unique and important event and commended the unparalleled sacrifices and role of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police in maintaining law and order in the society.
Renowned Pashto poet, intellectual and writer Prof. Dr. Abasin Yousafzai while expressing his views on the occasion said that Shaheen Shah Afridi is Shaheen not only in name but also in character and because of his cricket and performance the flag of Pakistan is always waving at No. 1 .Provincial Police Chief Moazzam Jah Ansari in his address on the occasion said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police has its roots in the people and the people here love the police immensely and this spirit is rarely found elsewhere. The IGP said that KP Province produced great sportsmen in squash, hockey, cricket, volleyball, football, and in other sports who brings laurels for the Country. The IGP termed Shaheen Shah Afridi’s appointment as a goodwill ambassador of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police as a good gesture for the police and hoped that he will play major role in portraying a better image of KP police all over the World.
Addressing the function, Shaheen Shah Afridi said that it was an honor for him to become a goodwill ambassador of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police by wearing a police uniform. He said that the real heroes are not us but the police of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa . He said that the police of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were performing very difficult duties. He paid rich tribute to the police for their sacrifices during war against terrorism and said he would love to play positive and constructive role in enhancing the prestige of the KP police force.
