PESHAWAR: Caretaker Provincial Minister of Food and Irrigation Haji Fazl Elahi has said that CPEC is a plan for the economic development and prosperity of Pakistan, and it is necessary for our youth to learn Chinese language so that they can get jobs. He believes CPEC projects will create more employment opportunities for Chinese language learners.
He expressed these views while addressing the closing ceremony of the Chinese language learning course organized by the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission ( NAVTTC ) at China Window, a Chinese Cultural and Information Center in Peshawar. Pakistan’s former hockey Olympians Colonel Saeed, Manzoor Ul Hasan Sr., and Mohammad Usman specially participated in the event.
The chief guest distributed certificates amongst 45 students who completed the six-month course. Addressing the ceremony, Haji Fazl Elahi said that the prosperity of any country is dependent on economic development for which investments are being made all over the world.
Undoubtedly, he said that the CPEC is of great importance in which more than 65 billion dollars have been invested so far, and employment opportunities have been provided to hundreds of thousands of people.
CPEC project to create employment opportunities: Elahi
The caretaker provincial food and irrigation minister further said that setting up factories in Rashkai Economic Zone will also provide employment to the local people. In this regard, the provincial and federal governments are already using all possible resources.
The provincial minister said that the organizers of China Window had done an important job by starting Chinese language teaching courses, and now there is a need to introduce the Chinese language among local people besides signing MoUs with Chinese universities.
Scholarships should also be given to students for language learning. Speaking at the occasion, Pakistan’s famous ex-Olympian Manzoor Ul Hasan Sr., who was likened to the Great Wall of China during the golden era of Pakistan hockey, said that he was happy that the free Chinese language was being taught to the youth in Peshawar which he believes is an ongoing charity.
Manzoor said that the day is not far when the fruits of CPEC will usher in a new era of development and happiness across Pakistan. He also expressed the belief that the friendship between Pakistan and China is eternal and sports between the two countries, especially in hockey, competitions will also be held.
