Peshawar , April 17, 2025: (APP) Chinese investors have expressed a strong interest in investing in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) but highlighted serious challenges that are hindering progress. They emphasized that if the provincial government takes concrete steps to resolve these issues, significant investment opportunities could be unlocked not only in Peshawar but across the province. Such investments, they noted, would create thousands of employment opportunities for local communities.
These views were shared during the concluding session of the CPEC International Seminar organized by China Window in Peshawar. Speaking on the occasion, prominent Chinese businessman Wang Qi—who has invested in multiple sectors in Pakistan—said that KP’s strategic geographical location makes it a highly attractive destination for foreign investment.
Chinese investors, he added, are eager to invest in various sectors such as agriculture, minerals, livelihoods, precious and semi-precious stones, and marble, both individually and in collaboration with local stakeholders. However, they face significant hurdles, including delays in obtaining No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to enter the province, which greatly hampers the investment process.
Wang Qi currently serves as the President of the Zhejiang Chamber of Commerce in Pakistan and the Chief Representative in Pakistan for Beijing Mineral Technology Company, a subsidiary of the China National Geological Survey Bureau. He urged the provincial government to capitalize on President Xi Jinping’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), which offers enhanced cooperation with neighboring countries, particularly during the second phase of CPEC.
He strongly advocated for the establishment of a one-window operation system to streamline investment procedures and eliminate bureaucratic red tape. He announced that if the KP government introduces investor-friendly policies, he is prepared to initiate major investments that could immediately employ over 50,000 skilled local workers, with the potential to increase further.
Wang Qi also commended the formation of the Special Security Unit for the protection of Chinese citizens in Pakistan and paid tribute to the security forces for their unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety of Chinese nationals.
