Art Exhibition Highlights Growing Pakistan–China Cultural Cooperation

Islamabad: January 09, 2026: (China Window Report ) : Cultural diplomacy took center stage in the federal capital on Tuesday as a Pakistan–China Friendship Calligraphy and Paintings Exhibition opened, reflecting the deep-rooted ties and growing people-to-people cooperation between the two neighboring countries. The exhibition was inaugurated by Parliamentary Secretary for the Ministry of Culture, Farah Naz Akbar, who said that Pakistan places great importance on cultural engagement with China, describing it as a vital pillar of the longstanding bilateral relationship.

Addressing the opening ceremony, she remarked that artistic collaboration plays a key role in strengthening mutual understanding and trust. “Pakistan–China friendship is time-tested and ever-evolving. Cultural initiatives like this exhibition further reinforce our shared values and bring our peoples closer,” she said. The exhibition featured an impressive collection of calligraphy and paintings jointly curated by Dr. Shaista Haider and Ms. Wang Chunpin, presenting works that blend traditional Chinese artistic techniques with contemporary Pakistani expressions. The display highlighted themes of harmony, peace, and shared heritage. Representing the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China, Mr. Wang Shengjie, Head of the Political Press Section, appreciated the efforts of the organizers and participating artists. He emphasized that China attaches great significance to cultural exchanges with Pakistan and views such events as an effective way to deepen bilateral cooperation beyond official engagements.

Prominent artist Jamal Shah also spoke on the occasion, noting that art serves as a universal language capable of strengthening bonds across borders. He said exhibitions like this promote dialogue, tolerance, and mutual respect among nations. The event was attended by a number of diplomats, including the ambassadors of Sri Lanka and Vietnam, along with academics, artists, and cultural figures, underscoring the wider regional interest in cultural diplomacy. Visitors expressed admiration for the diversity and depth of the artworks, ranging from classical Chinese brush paintings to modern Pakistani calligraphy, symbolizing the fusion of ancient traditions with modern creativity. The organizers expressed optimism that the exhibition would open new avenues for future collaboration, including joint art projects, workshops, and cultural exchanges. They noted that the initiative represents not just an artistic display, but a celebration of the enduring friendship between Pakistan and China.
