PESHAWAR: The Chinese Cultural Center, China Window, organized a colorful event to celebrate Chinese New Year here at the center the other day. Caretaker Provincial Minister for Transport Zafarullah Khan, Minister for Energy and Planning Dr. Syed Sarfraz Ali Shah, President Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry Fawad Ishaq, Chairperson Pakistan Academy of Letters’s Prof. Dr. Najiba Arif, Additional Inspector General of Police Muhammad Ali Babakhail, former world squash champion Qamar Zaman and others personalities from different walks of life participated in the event.
Addressing the gathering, Provincial Transport Minister Zafarullah Khan said that the Chinese New Year, named after the Dragon, was being celebrated as a year of peace, tranquillity, and security, and he prayed that the New Year would bring further opportunities to manifold the long-lasting friendly relations between Pakistan and China.
Speakers Hail Pakistan-China Friendship
Provincial Minister for Energy and Planning Dr. Syed Sarfraz Ali Shah, while wishing to the people of China, remarked that China would continue to play its role in the economic development of Pakistan. President of the Sarhad Chamber Fawad Ishaq stated that the China-Pakistan friendship has been strengthened with the passage of time, and celebrating Chinese New Year in Pakistan conveyed a message of friendly bonding between the two countries.
Professor Dr. Najiba Arif, the head of the Pakistan Academy of Letters, expressed that China has fully helped and cooperated with Pakistan in every field of life, particularly for the economic development of the country, including a game-changing project of CPEC. The project would lead the country towards new heights of prosperity and development.
Meanwhile, students of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University also displayed paintings related to Chinese culture. President of Chamber Fawad Ishaq officially inaugurated the painting exhibition. On the occasion, local singers also performed to greet Chinese sisters and brothers on the Chinese New Year.
