PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial Caretaker Finance Advisor, Himayat Ullah Khan, emphasized the significance of Pakistan’s Independence Day as a reminder of the sacrifices made by the nation’s founding fathers to establish Pakistan. Addressing a gathering in connection with Pakistan’s Independence Day celebrations at the China Window, a Chinese cultural center in Peshawar, Khan highlighted the importance of loyalty and sacrifices for the country in the current circumstances.
During the event commemorating Pakistan’s 76th Independence Day, Khan underscored the need for a collective effort to restore the country’s honour and glory. He drew attention to the transformative journey of China, noting how it initiated a series of reforms after its establishment. Today, China stands as a global superpower, demonstrating the potential for progress and prosperity that can arise from the right strategies. Khan stressed that Pakistan possesses abundant resources and urged their equitable distribution for national development within the framework of the constitution. He also pointed out the significance of addressing financial obligations owed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to the federal government. Clearing these dues, according to Khan, is crucial to integrating the merged districts into the national stream and enabling their constructive role in Pakistan’s growth.
Expressing confidence in the new generation, Caretaker Minister expressed his confidence that the new generation will play their role in advancing Pakistan on the international stage.
Speaking on the occasion, Head of China Window, Amjad Aziz Malik, lauded the sacrifice of Pakistan’s armed forces and security agencies for the defense of the country. He maintained that Pakistani nation is enthusiastic to celebrate the Independence Day with traditional zeal and fervor. Speaking at the event, Arshad Aziz Malik, President of the Peshawar Press Club, emphasized that Independence Day serves as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made for the nation’s creation in the name of Islam. He called for a rekindling of commitment on this significant day, urging everyone to reflect on the past to pave the way for a prosperous and fruitful future. Speakers lauded the sacrifices made for the country’s creation and drew parallels with China’s journey of development. They urged unity across political affiliations and personal interests for Pakistan’s progress and prosperity. The gathering concluded with Himayat Ullah Khan, Dr. Zakir Shah, Bishop Ernest Jacob, Prof. Dr. Gulzar Jalal, and Arshad Aziz Malik cutting an Independence Day cake.
