Beijing, China, October 25, 2025: The 2025 Beijing International Week of Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) was held at the Beijing Municipal Administrative Center from October 17 to 21, with Pakistan proudly participating among 61 countries and regions from five continents. Representing Pakistan, a two-member delegation from China Window Peshawar — Professor Dr. Gulzar Ahmad and Dr. Ayub — displayed the nation’s vibrant intangible cultural heritage, earning wide appreciation from visitors and organizers alike.
Held under the theme “Intangible Cultural Heritage: Together for a Better Life,” the event brought together diverse cultural expressions from across the globe. Pakistan’s stall showcased traditional crafts, folk art, and cultural artifacts representing the country’s centuries-old heritage. Items such as handmade embroidery, traditional jewelry, miniature paintings, calligraphy, and cultural souvenirs attracted thousands of visitors who admired the beauty and craftsmanship of Pakistani culture. Professor Dr. Gulzar Ahmad said that Pakistan’s stall became one of the major attractions of the exhibition. “We brought more than 100 cultural items representing the intangible heritage of Pakistan, and we were overwhelmed by the response from people of different nationalities,” he shared. “It was a proud moment to see Pakistan’s culture appreciated on such a prestigious international platform.”
Dr. Ayub also praised the event, saying, “The Beijing ICH Week was an inspiring experience that beautifully reflected the unity of global cultures. The arrangements were outstanding, and the organizers deserve full credit for promoting cultural exchange and mutual respect among nations.” The delegation also expressed deep gratitude to the organizers and the Beijing Municipal Government for providing an excellent opportunity to promote Pakistan’s cultural identity on an international stage. “This event has strengthened the bond of friendship between Pakistan and China, and we look forward to further cooperation in the field of culture and heritage,” said Dr. Gulzar Ahmad.
The 2025 ICH Week featured exhibitions, performances, and interactive sessions across major venues including the Beijing Grand Canal Museum, the Beijing City Library, and the Central Green Forest Park. Participants from around the world presented their traditional crafts, music, and artistic expressions, celebrating cultural diversity under the Belt and Road Initiative.
The Pakistan delegation’s active participation and their display of rich traditions added great value to the event, symbolizing Pakistan’s commitment to preserving and promoting its intangible cultural heritage while deepening cultural ties with friendly nations, particularly China.
